Corrections
Name the story, name the error, attach what proves it. We reply within two business days. Corrections publish with a date and link from the story they fix.
Documents
Denied? Send the letter. We read every denial letter that reaches this desk. The letter is the story; the paperwork does the talking.
We do not name a source who asks not to be named, and we do not publish a document over the objection of the person it names without telling them first.
Press and partners
Partners pay flat fees. Editorial does not take these meetings.
Who you are writing to
The Peril Desk is published by Claim File Media LLC. It is a small independent publication, not a broker, not an agency, and not owned by an insurer. Nobody here sells insurance or takes a commission on a policy. Every email above reaches a person, not a ticketing queue, and the person who replies is the person who wrote or edited the file you are writing about.
Editorial is reachable at the three addresses on this page and nowhere else. We do not run a contact form, because a form is one more place for a denial letter to get lost.

Everything sent through this form lands with the editor. Corrections get read first.
What we cannot do for you
We are asked for these four things constantly, so here is the honest answer to each before you spend an email on it.
We cannot appeal your claim for you. Nobody here is a licensed adjuster, a public adjuster, or a lawyer, and telling you what to do about your specific policy would be practising both without a licence. What we can do is show you the clause, the statute, and the case where somebody in your position won or lost.
We cannot tell you which policy to buy. The rankings compare carriers on published regulator and ratings data, and they stop there. Which one fits your house, your health, and your risk is a question for a licensed agent in your state.
We cannot value your claim. The calculator does arithmetic on numbers you type in, and it is not an estimate, an offer, or evidence.
We cannot take your case off the record. If you send us a document and ask us not to publish it, we will not publish it. But we cannot promise to investigate every file we receive. Silence from us is not a verdict on your claim.
How we handle what you send
A denial letter that arrives here is read by a human, usually within two business days. If it becomes a story, we contact you before anything publishes and you see how you are described. If it does not become a story, nothing happens to it: we do not sell reader documents, we do not hand them to partners, and we do not add you to any list because you wrote in.
We redact policy numbers, claim numbers, and account numbers from every document we publish. If a file names somebody other than you, we tell that person before it runs.
What happens to your data is written out in full in the privacy policy, including the advertising and analytics services these pages load.
